Summer In The City Photography

The weathers been lovely recently and I was in town, and something just made me think of how hot it must be in the city, so I thought I'd do a post of some photo's of summer in the city!  Some of these are more focused on the surroundings than the fashion and others are more focused on the fashion as I'm sure you can tell. Also, what are people's opinion on these photography posts, any recommendations?

Thank you for following me! I've moved to  thefashionblog.co.uk, my boyfriend brought me a new domain because blogger was a bit restrictive and I was struggling to use it so he has brought me a creative space! So if you wish to see more of what you've already seen on this blog then please go to  thefashionblog.co.uk, thankyou!  So follow us at bloglovin, you'll find our link on the right handside on the new website!

Vintage Summer Photography

So here again is some beautiful vintage summer photography just to give you a little inspiration and because these things are always so nice to look at. Hopefully they'll help you think of some new ways to wear your clothes instead of just going and buying new ones, because I'm beginning to think that that is how IT girls and models and people that always look good do it!

Urban, Modern shoes, that anyone can wear!

I really love the shoes that models wear with the unique heel! however they are not practical, the first uneven paving those see and your doomed! heaven forbid that it's down hill! I've been on Aldo's website and actually found a couple and thought I'd show you!
Asos - Miss L-Fire.
£100.00
These ones gave me a little giggle! Remember on bikes they used to have little baskets weaved like the heels of these shoes? What lovely memories. How very summery and girly they are!
Asos
£65.00
These are very nautical and the thing that makes these is definitely that front platform heel. The wood effect is beautiful. But the shape that that cut out section makes is outstanding! I actually have fallen in love with these!
Asos
£65.00
The perspex heel is amazing. It reminds me of when your swimming under water and look up and it looks so blue and around you it looks clear. I just imagine a little fishy somewhere in that heel. These are my second love and I'm honestly contemplating buying them, I think the art that they hold is just too nice to pass up.

Aldo
£65.00
"Inspired from the groovy seventies, these killer heels have what it takes to be the style of the season. They feature wedge platform, round toe, and allover print."
These shoes are so fun, I'm in love with them! they're far more practical and probably easier to walk in. The print is what makes them so fun and quirky!

First Vintage Item!

So I said I'd show you my first item! And I'm so glad I picked this one I think it's gorgeous! It's a 1960's brooch and it's absolutely perfect, barely a mark on it. I was always a bit wary of old things because of them ageing but this has aged gracefully indeed! I'm selling it currently on my Etsy store, and here is a smaller store I've created for my favourite pieces to sell them on, be sure to tell me what you think in a comment! http://vintagetreasuretrove.bigcartel.com/
Just thought I'd also remind you of the competition I'm holding to name the Vintage clothing and jewellery store! 1 free item and 10% off! Just enter below in a comment with the suggestion, your name, and an e-mail address to contact you on! It ends the 31st so hurry up and get entries in!

Vintage & a Competition!/Give Away!

So I've now got my Uni places, and sorted my finance, and my accomodation, and I'm getting good grades. Time for a new project! So I've always had some form of failing little business going on online somewhere, whether it was on Bebo (which was replaced by Myspace), then to Facebook(which replaced Myspace), then to Etsy (which replaced Facebook) (seeing the link to social networking sites and how they lose popularity?) Anyway,so I've always had one somewhere hidden in the depths of the internet. So I've decided to buy up a bunch of Vintage Jewellery and to sell it on my Etsy site, or I may get a new one, I'm not doing anything till I have done some proper research for a change! But I was trying to think of a name?
So I've come up with a plan!
On the 31st March (providing I get any entries) I am going to run a competition to come up with the name for a shop that sells Vintage jewellery and clothing, whoever I like will get one of my pieces before it goes on sale! and a 10% discount voucher for them to use!
So just post in a comment below any name that you see fit and leave an e-mail address for me to get in contact with you!

GOOD LUCK! xoxo!

London Fashion Week!

I was so bogged down with Coursework that I totally missed it, I think I might have been moving  more than some of the Designers were when trying to organise their chaotic show backstage it was awful, so i'm so sorry that this is so late! It's awful, however here are my favourites!

PPQ.
I love this! It's so clean, chic, sophisticated and glamorous! I wish I had been there to see this! I love their hats too, kind of a cross between batman and a kitten, what a dangerous cuteness they have! The shoes I wasn't a fan of at first, however the over the knee boots, sold it! I don't know why but I love the ruffles at the tops on them and would love a pair! now I just need thinner legs to be able to get into them! the dresses... BEAUTIFUL! there is no other way to describe them, I honestly love them, especially the grey one with the collar which is amazing as well as the sleeves on it!( the 4th dress in) I also love the crisp white shirt the girl with a black velvet looking pencil skirt is wearing before the girl in grey, that shirt is to die for! Anyone hate this collection? What are your favourite pieces? Oh and I loved the song!

Paul Costelloe.

I hate this one, it seems odd to put it on... but I hate it, and I can't work out why. The designs aren't too my taste but I just somehow don't see them as being wearable or anything, the patterns seem out dated I don't like the colour schemes either. Does anyone love this, if so why? I'm just curious to see if I'm missing something. However I do like their hair in a non-practical way!

Jena. Theo.

DANGEROUS! REBELLIOUS! SO ROCK N ROLL! I'm in love! The eyes are so striking, the fabric so free and flowing, the music so on point. I love it! I could never wear it, but it stands out!I also love the colour palette. The materials are so soft as well, giving it a totally contrasting feel if you were to touch! how conflicting, which just adds to the rebelliousness! Does anyone else get the same feeling from this as I do?

Outfit of the Day...

This isn't really outfit of the day, it's more outfit that I wore today. But that doesn't sound nearly as snazzy. So I've been shopping and brought a Revlon Lipstick, Nail polish and liquid Eye-liner, so expect reviews to be coming up for those! I've also seen a bag I adore in TK Maxx but I don't think I'll get since I'm trying to be more sensible now with my money and sadly I don't think I'll have very many places to take it too, it's more of a holiday go clubbing type bag that is gorgeous! It's a coral colour with that caged metal lattice affect that bags had in December and is gold, it sounds awfully but is so bright and heart warming you can't help but think of Summer! So here's what I wore today, I just wore my skater dress from River Island which is far too low and so I put on a black cami underneath that happens to have a lovely higher lace part and actually worked really well, a thin black belt, black tights and my black boots again. Need to get new boots! Oh and that's my RI Jacket which you've probably seen me wearing before and I really liked these badges that I found on one of my other jackets and thought they were really cute though I've lost my favourite one a while ago, very sad! But I find that badges are the quickest and easiest way to update a jacket and can help give a hint to the style that you want to be as well! I.e. little sailor badges for a nautical feel!

Also any opinion on dying my hair red? Also know any great home hair colouring kits that won't cost me the earth? Since I don't want to pay £40.00 to have it done then realise I don't like it and that I'm stuck with it permanently till it grows out, Thanks!
xoxo!

Tattoo's....

So I've wanted to get a Tattoo for ages..... not like a big one, just a little one somewhere discreet of some wording. I'm not much of a fan of pictures really unless they really meant something to me, though I would like my favourite piece from my first collection tattoo'd on me somewhere, just the sketch, not all colour and stuff, since that would obviously mean a lot to me.
But I was just wondering what people thought of them? or have you got any that you regret? Also have there been any Tattoo's that you've seen and thought, I want that! Leave your reply in the comments!

Save my hair week!

I'm having a "save my hair week". I feel very bad for it since I straighten it every day, so since it's the last couple of weeks of school, I'm just going to tie it up during the week in a little bun and let it get some strength up for the party season! Cause I do hate it when my hair starts to look not nearly as good, since my hair is my crowning feature.
Pretty happy as well since I've not heard anymore from the Uni's which means I can get my 2 projects sorted before I deal with any others... in theory. And I am definitely starting that today! I am considering getting a completely new book to be honest to start my projects in but I'm not sure if it's worth it... It's a pain to decide. I have a portfolio full of drawings and that, but they just aren't that good, and I really want to show them the best. I might try and save the book and do what I can to help it. Actually, yes that will be my small project for the day... save my portfolio...
I've still got my samples to mount in my book as well, even though they aren't the best.... But I'll just write next to them that they are the very first attempts, there fore they should really leave a bigger room for error, and it's not like they are awful, the lines just aren't sewn straight...But yes, it's not that bad.
Also if you're a little new to blogging, or reading blogs. If you want somewhere really good to store them, so that you don't get some weird RSS feed text weird stuff... I don't know what it was but it wasn't helpful at all! Then use BlogLovin! Lots of blogs use it, so you can go on there pages and just click add to bloglovin', but when you sign in to bloglovin it will show all the new posts up! Picture and description and all! It's lovely!
I think I might also write a list of upcoming articles for you all, so that you don't have to listen to my boring rants! But as far as i'm aware of coming up is:
- My jewellery collection (might be interesting to show)
- Favourite lookbook.nu look's
- Some make-up reviews
- possibly a hair tutorial... possibly....
So lot's to look forward to! and there'll be fewer posts during the week up to christmas, due to work, but I might pre-write some stuff so that I just need to post it for you all, they'll be more stuff like interviews and things like that!

Drawings!

I've had to do some more fashion drawings in my Research book, so here are 3 that I did today, while the boyfriend had run off for Sushi! I also apologize for the bad photographing skills I really need to learn to photograph at decent times of day in decent light. They still need color on some and samples and stuff too.
This dress was inspired by 2 dresses by Alexander McQueen.
The dress uses the lace sleeves and neck that the cream uses, and then the peacock lace skirt, and also the fullness aswell, while also using the skirt from this yellow dress to create a new dress. Using Red, Cream and Black.

This picture was inspired by a more Avant Garde style similar to a picture I had previously found but will show you another time.
The above picture is based on Dior's Tulip inspired dress, and just needs colour adding and some samples of materials.
Which I have ordered off a website ( 53 samples to be exact) and will be playing with when they arrive!

Music! Friends? Life! Fashion! Urban?

Currently loving the song Miami 2 Ibiza by Tinie Tempah and the Swedish House Mafia. They're such great artists! and Tinie Tempah is definitely staying at the top and growing strong. I've a feeling they're both definitely going to last more than 15  minutes which would be nice. I think we should be harsher on music, people who are only going to have 15 minutes of fame should be thrown out quicker. Too many people are called A listers when they really aren't and it's a shame since it's giving the music industry a bad name and it really is painful to listen too.
On the other side a bit more thoughtful. Friends? a friend recently had an incident where he needed his friends to stand by him, some he let leave to protect them, some ran and others stood by him, and when he came too, the people that should of been there weren't instead some of the ones that were on the opposing side were. So friends? People that stand by you're side through out anything? or ones that won't? Although I guess you need an occasion to actually test it. But just a thought for everyone, are you're friends who they think they are? I've had a lot of this recently, specially arguments with my parents over my friends. But sometimes the ones that are meant to be bad for you are the ones that will stand by you when you need it the most and if you ask me that's what friends are meant to do.
On the other side... Fashionnn! But I just though I'd give you something to ponder quickly.
On the Fashion front... I'm a bit bored. Very uninspired today, possibly cause I'm too tired. But hopefully I will think of something. I've got Cambridge next saturday so hopefully there will be something inspiring there. I have gotten into the idea of things that are more urban lately, a little bit "gangsta". Bit different to my normal stuff. But I'm just really waiting to get paid so that I can spend some money and get creating. I'm really looking into my own range of tops at the moment rather than at what other people are doing. I'm a little worried that I just copy what I see and that I'm not experiencing enough. So I'm really trying to get more experiences to draw on, so we'll see how that goes!
I got my interview sorted for Coventry so that's good so far, but apart from that there's not much else to report on. So here's some stuff that I've drawn etc to show you or worn etc. You'll work it out! (: You just have to press play down the bottom to get it to go through everything!

QUICK! DRIVE! SCHOOL! HAIR! EAT! LEARN!

Quick Quick Quick! That is today's theme. Had to get up stupidly early cause I had a driving lesson at 8:30 and kept stalling, silly different car! and then I've had art, history and business today. Really annoyed about that, but I'll have to rant tomorrow. Because I've had a haircut, and now have less than an hour to go make dinner before I have to leave and go to my night course! But as a preview: WHAT A WASTE OF 2 YEARS! But, yes you'll here all about that tomorrow, and I'll put a quick picture up after dinner! oh and I'm also gonna have a how-to on how to wear rings, since lately I've gotten really into them!

Swimswim! and Shirley Craven...

Shirley Craven's work.
I've had a more productive day! I went swimming, and I posted the stuff that I needed to, for the most part. And I also managed to go to the art gallery which I needed to do, now I just need to colour in that thing for art and stick in my artist research... not to bad for a day when I feel ill!
Now just to have a bath, so as to get rid of the smell of chlorine, which is sadly the only thing I can smell, not even my dinner ):
Got lots of work to do tonight, so least I'll be kept nice and busy, which is what we like! Going to walk my new shoes in too after my bath, and then stuff them with some news paper to stretch them a little. I also need to make this stupid hat, that I've still not managed to make. I also forgot to go to the fabric store, to get some lace and red, blue and white pieces of fabric. Which is an awful pain.
They were showing some of Shirley Craven's work at the Fermoy art centre, since she's a hull based artist. She does some really cool patterns on materials, a little bit aboriginal/aztec sort of thing, but it's really cool. Quite glad I went in the end, and it's quite nice since it was free, which you often don't get any more which is a shame. But here's some of her work anyway. That's some of her work, I couldn't really find any others which was a shame, but I really like how some of them just seem to be colourful doodles, I thought it made a present change to pictures that are all painted and neat. xoxo

Le Bosquet

Bother!

I've my free day and I've still! managed to not do anything, apart from tidy out my underwear draw and walk up to the post office....Oh brilliant.
I've somehow, I'm not sure how and why, planned my day so that I need to go into school... Painting, printing(my printer likes putting lines in all the pictures horizontally that are not there.. -.-) and to finish my hat... which I've failed to start... Botherrr!
On the upside....I'll think of one later.
I'm also swimming later with a cold, but least I've someone to go with me to the art gallery in town so that will get my Art teacher off my back I guess. But it's still bothersome.

Friday, 8 October 2010

And I'm back...

So I can't exactly remember when I updated this because it's me, and also cause I've been quite tired and a little ill, which I can't really afford to be. So I've got pictures of my art book to show you and I've what I wore today, though it's not very inventive cause I woke up late. Though I think I could currently sleep for days, but alas I've work tomorrow 9-6 and Sunday 10:30-4:30, which is a shame cause I do miss a good lie in.
But on the upside I've booked my driving theory for the 20th October, so I'm quite nervous about that and need to do some revision, as well as revision for everything else which is annoying. But least then that's out the way, and I'd better pass cause it cost me a bloody fortune.
But I'm also making a hat for my art class, but there'll be pictures of that up later cause it's really not finish yet... not really started either, but still! Positive is the key!
I've also had my night course on Monday which went amazingly! I absolutely love it, and definitely want to do it when I go to uni, I just need to improve my drawing skills which is a pain! But least now I know what I need to improve at and can just keep going and trying, I think I'll just print some pictures off and stick them in my book and keep trying from there. After all, practice does make perfect!  But anyway here's what I wore today, and also the pictures from my art book.

I also seriously need a day off! I'm so tired! I spent Monday working, which is a pain. I seriously need sleep which is a shame that I can't. I'm also meant to be booking my gym induction for Tuesday afternoon, and I'm meant to go swimming next week, but I might skip the gym induction since it's not booked and just go swimming, and wait for the induction till I get paid, since I'll hopefully get paid lots cause of being paid 2 months wages from Debenhams and 1 from JJB, which is good cause I've seen some expensive shoes that I LOVE! and have now decided I NEED! & I was gonna show you a picture of the shoes but of course I can't find it.

Love!

So I had my night course and I love it!!! I've taken a picture of a seam I did... and did again, it looks quite cool I think! So I'll upload that along with the pictures of what I wore today, I must admit the top is from Primark so it is a little unforgiving so excuse the little podge lol, But the trousers are from RI as well of as the shoes. But back to the night course, we got in there and had a little bit of paperwork to do and then a chat about who we were etc. and we had to fill in sheets to state our aims etc. and then we got to the sewing machines and I love it! I managed to thread mine up and everything because I do sew a little at home but these were big machines! So yeah this is a little of what we did, and I'll keep you updated and keep posting stuff about it!
I also did a big A3x3 drawing today, that is as big as me! But I'll take a picture of that tomorrow and post it up so you can all see, it's just a fashion drawing that I did from another drawing that was in my art book out of a vogue book for my fine art.
It also drizzled most of the day which was awful, and tomorrow I'm having some of my hair dyed so there will also be a picture of that up tomorrow, and I'm going to try and get my better camera up and running and take some more interesting ones!

So here are the ones for the party I wore Saturday night, I did throw my green jumper on over it as well since it was pretty cold, I also need a new dress to go out in! This is my only one party dress! and my mum brought me some kingfisher? green tights that looked really nice with it too! I think they were from John Lewis but I'm not sure.

This is what I wore today because I got up farrrr to late! I need to start taking pictures in the day when the lighting is better! But the trousers are from RI and are really warm and just generally quite nice, I really want some loafers or Penny high heel loafer type shoes to go with them cause they would look adorable I think! and the top is Primark and the Jumper is a mens Red Herring one but it's really warm, thicker, and keeps the shape better than the ones in New Look! I also need to learn to smile better in Photographs, I apparently have a nice smile but it seems the second I know there's a camera I pull the stupidest smile I can.

This is the seams that I did from my night course that I'm so pleased with!
xoxo
