Shopping and new hair!

So I've been shopping today which is always a sin! I'm now broke! Oh well.... So I brought a satchel bag from Primark for £9.00 just to take shopping with me and such since I was desperate for one and didn't want to wait! So here it is, there is a lovely navy and brown one that I might get as well, and a just plain brown one but I thought this one was a little more versatile and summery because of the colours.

I also went and had my hair cut and I've been debating for a while now to have my hair dyed red... like 2, 3 years? so quite a while. I saw this and absolutely loved the colour and I thought if I have it done now and don't like it at least it will be out in time for university, so Tuesday my hair will be going to this colour! Any tips for keeping red hair red? Since it's notorious for being hard to do!

Vintage & a Competition!/Give Away!

So I've now got my Uni places, and sorted my finance, and my accomodation, and I'm getting good grades. Time for a new project! So I've always had some form of failing little business going on online somewhere, whether it was on Bebo (which was replaced by Myspace), then to Facebook(which replaced Myspace), then to Etsy (which replaced Facebook) (seeing the link to social networking sites and how they lose popularity?) Anyway,so I've always had one somewhere hidden in the depths of the internet. So I've decided to buy up a bunch of Vintage Jewellery and to sell it on my Etsy site, or I may get a new one, I'm not doing anything till I have done some proper research for a change! But I was trying to think of a name?
So I've come up with a plan!
On the 31st March (providing I get any entries) I am going to run a competition to come up with the name for a shop that sells Vintage jewellery and clothing, whoever I like will get one of my pieces before it goes on sale! and a 10% discount voucher for them to use!
So just post in a comment below any name that you see fit and leave an e-mail address for me to get in contact with you!

GOOD LUCK! xoxo!

Quick blog update

So before I pop off to lesson, I'm off jean shopping today since I've put a minor hole in my others and so can't wear them out really. I've also got 2 interviews tomorrow aswell so I might not update for a few days, but I just thought I'd let you know!
Also has anyone found any really good designers on the ASOS marketplace, that have low prices that could be higher that aren't? I really want some good stuff but I'm almost broke ): Don't you just hate that!

Save my hair week!

I'm having a "save my hair week". I feel very bad for it since I straighten it every day, so since it's the last couple of weeks of school, I'm just going to tie it up during the week in a little bun and let it get some strength up for the party season! Cause I do hate it when my hair starts to look not nearly as good, since my hair is my crowning feature.
Pretty happy as well since I've not heard anymore from the Uni's which means I can get my 2 projects sorted before I deal with any others... in theory. And I am definitely starting that today! I am considering getting a completely new book to be honest to start my projects in but I'm not sure if it's worth it... It's a pain to decide. I have a portfolio full of drawings and that, but they just aren't that good, and I really want to show them the best. I might try and save the book and do what I can to help it. Actually, yes that will be my small project for the day... save my portfolio...
I've still got my samples to mount in my book as well, even though they aren't the best.... But I'll just write next to them that they are the very first attempts, there fore they should really leave a bigger room for error, and it's not like they are awful, the lines just aren't sewn straight...But yes, it's not that bad.
Also if you're a little new to blogging, or reading blogs. If you want somewhere really good to store them, so that you don't get some weird RSS feed text weird stuff... I don't know what it was but it wasn't helpful at all! Then use BlogLovin! Lots of blogs use it, so you can go on there pages and just click add to bloglovin', but when you sign in to bloglovin it will show all the new posts up! Picture and description and all! It's lovely!
I think I might also write a list of upcoming articles for you all, so that you don't have to listen to my boring rants! But as far as i'm aware of coming up is:
- My jewellery collection (might be interesting to show)
- Favourite lookbook.nu look's
- Some make-up reviews
- possibly a hair tutorial... possibly....
So lot's to look forward to! and there'll be fewer posts during the week up to christmas, due to work, but I might pre-write some stuff so that I just need to post it for you all, they'll be more stuff like interviews and things like that!

The Risk...

Take a Risk. Write down 5 things that you're taking a risk doing! Then next to that write down if you're loving doing it anyway! If you aren't doing at least 10! Then you need to believe in you're dreams more and follow you're heart! I've decided that taking risks is good, and that it's what makes life interesting. One day someone will write my auto-biography and I want to make it as much of an interesting read as I can!
1) Applying to uni... all 5... for Fashion Design... despite that fact that I haven't done the right courses to get onto it and hoping that my sheer determination will get me in.
2) Wearing bright red lipstick and being as fashionable as I can in my little town, that is full of more rude and brightly neoned people than there are normal people.
Follow your Dream, until the sun gives up.
 (sourced from lookbook.nu)
3) Putting my entire future on the line for a dream... I will design.
4) Giving up trying to please people and hoping that my happiness in trying to achieve my dream will please them, since it's no fun pleasing people and getting amazing grades and knowing what the next step is, if you don't want the step. Believe in the unknown.
5) Having the guts to stand out your surroundings, in my case from my family, wearing beautiful rings, all at once on my hands, wearing high shoes where it's not appropriate and looking like I should be in the city. Something I would never have done last year.

If you can't think of minimum 5 things! Take something new up... totally new! If you do art, maybe take up a writing course. If you like art but think you're really bad, take up an art course! If you work on computers, taking up something outdoorsy! Do something unexpected! Even if it is just wearing a bright lipstick that you're a little unsure of, it might just grow on you! Nothing wrong with a little bit of war paint!

Quick Update

So a very quick up date! I've got an interview for Falmouth too! Which is great since I feel so much better now! They too want me to do a task for the interview! Which is great... more work to do! So I've asked my mum to help me make a dress, so I think! I'm going to make a black dress and embellish it with little gold chains and little antique gold spikes that I've got on the shoulders and maybe a shoulder pad or two.
I've also changed my mind and am now doing a shirt for Coventry. Lace? Chains? Spikes?... I'm a little lost for idea's I must admit. I'm in 2 minds whether to make one, or just to buy one and customise... maybe I'll eventually decide later.

Good morning Monday!

Getting really excited, got my night course later and we're doing the pattern, and it's been kinda hard so far because I'm just not good at maths, but the patterns looking good so far! So I'm a bit excited! And I think today we're going to cut it out and then sew a mock one, but I'm not 100% sure yet.
Also going to be booking my driving test soon! Excited!
Anddd! It's Christmas super close! Really excited about that! I'm loving buying everyone their presents and I've got a little bit more to do on Saturday, as well as some drawing and stuff for my portfolio.
I've also got to start experimenting with some T-shirts for my course. So far I'm going to experiment with
-Tie Dying
- Braiding
- embellishing
-spray painting
So it's getting really exciting, I'm just waiting so that on Saturday I can buy all the stuff I need and hopefully start doing what I want to be doing. I think I'm going to have a bit of a punk rock theme for it, but I'm not entirely sure. I was thinking of doing a crop top too, but then I wondered if that was too little space to create in. But at the moment I'm just looking to draw pictures of clothing.
Also! who saw Gossip girl this week?! OMG! Serena's dress at the end?! I'm so going to be finding who made that, the lace work and everything was incredible! She always gets the nicest dresses I think, the way they move when she walks + her long legs = absolutely stunning!
I had a quick google and it's "Zuhair Murad Fall 2010 RTW Gray Sheer Lace Drape Gown" I'm incredibly jealous. I think it's wonderful, how the lace and then the sort of draped wrap part interact is beautiful.
I really want to try later to draw something inspired by this, I just love how it flows and the different materials used, especially lace, I'm having a real love of lace at the moment just because it's so versatile yet delicate.

Excited! Interview! Work! Family!

So sorry guys that I've not been online much I've been a bit lazy this week but I'm psyched back up again! so the sleep in went well but I came home friday and slept the entire day cause I felt drastically ill! But I managed to get lots of work done in my research book for Art! Which also helped with my drawing for my interview!
I've got an interview at Covent University for Fashion Design, it's the only one so far that has given me an interview, but I have just checked and no one has declined me either! So I'm really excited! But yeah I've been doing lots of art work and drawing in my books, and I'm going to mount my samples from my night course into my Design book that I started! so hopefully I'll have a good lot of work to show!
But I also saw that for my interview I have to design a top! and OMG! (excuse me since I hate the word but that was pretty much the response I had) But I had the greatest idea last night! I'm going to not tell you anything about it for now except little gold beads, lace, and spray paint! That's all you need know for now! But I'm really excited about it, but I also thought I could use the shirt to do some styling with as well! So I'm now super excited! But for now I'm going to have to wait until I have all of the things that I need!
Works been going well and we won the incentive so I've an extra £60! which is going to be really helpful since I have the boyfriends presents still to buy, but I don't get paid annoyingly till after the 20th when I'm going with my friend to Cambridge, so I might take it out of my savings and then owe my savings account some money.
I've also got Sunday off because I've got my nans birthday meal so I get to dress up a little and see everyone that I've not seen in months! Which will be really nice! I've also to show you my new red dress that I brought for the traffic light party on the 28th! It's really nice, it's from Tesco as well and was something like £18.00! Which is cheaper than the one in New look I saw but that one wasn't even properly lined.
I also have to find a fancy dress costume for saturday night since it's my friend Claire's 18th, currently I'm going as a sailor, since I completely forgot about it being fancy dress, so now I'm stuck pennyless and costumeless! So I'm just going to have to make do!

IFB

I am incredibly proud, to announce that I have been accepted into IFB (Independent Fashion Bloggers) and am very happy about this. I have also gotten my UCAS back and have up-dated my personal statement, which I'll put on here for now for you all to have a nosey at. I have changed my final 5 to:
Westminster
Coventry
Southhampton
Falmouth
London art college aswell.
I'm getting quite excited and can't wait to get my offers back!
I've also been shopping! But I'll take photo's of that for you all later! but I' just thought I'd quickly let you know that I was accepted into IFB and that I'm very proud of this. Ooh and I've also ordered some white tops so that I can start my collection!!

Now here is my personal statement:
"I have chosen to do Fashion design as I enjoy designing clothing and would like to learn more about the technical side. I aspire to open my own label, and would like to use the knowledge and skills I will gain to do so. I have always been interested in fashion, from watching Ladies day at Ascot with my mother, to reading fashion magazines such as Vogue, Company, Elle etc. I have especially enjoyed going to cities and drawing new ideas from the people walking past and seeing creative ways of putting things together.
I like that the course has good underlying technical skills, which is an area that I want to gain more experience in. I have already begun to make efforts towards this by making little projects. Designing and construction skills are of particular value to me.
Living in the city has always appealed to me, as the diverse culture and people constantly provide fresh inspiration. I am also looking forward to participating in competitions. It would be good advertising if I started a label and I can gain feedback.
I'm currently studying art and photography and have tailored these subjects to make fashion the main component. A lot of designing is also involved, and compiling a portfolio has been an interesting challenge. I am resitting History and an Art module as I feel that I didn't do as well as I could have and so would like to improve my mark, as I was only a few marks off of the next grade for both.
I have also been very pro-active in art/design. I started art lessons when I was 7 and carried on every weekend for 6 years, studying different materials, styles and types of work which has significantly helped my sketching abilities. Business studies will also help, as it introduces to the fundamentals of starting up my own label, and has also helped me develop my research skills and means that I find it easier to source items.
I also have a personal/fashion blog (http://thecountrycitygirls.blogspot.com)which I update daily showing what I'm wearing daily and with other personal stuff on. I was also recently accepted into IFB (Independent Fashion Bloggers) which has helped me to connect with other Fashion Bloggers so that I can see more work and designs, and also gives me access to more opinions and fashion choices.
I also have done a night course for pattern cutting and dressmaking where we are taught to do seams, seam finishes, hems, zippers, godets, gathers, pleats, pattern cutting and construction and will be able to make our own skirt by the end of the course. I will also after this course be taking up the advanced and intermediate course as well to improve on my skills.
I also have an online store where I sell jewellery that I make and am also starting a range of T-shirts with motifs on and hope to develop the range and progress as I go. This gives me a forum in which I can sell the clothing I make and builds confidence in my work as well as a clientele base. It also offers a chance to see what sells well. The industry is hard to get into and competitive, which is a situation I feel I will do well in; I am driven and often described as a perfectionist.
In my free time I relax, shop and go to the cinema as well as holding a varied social life. Working at both JJB and Debenhams offers me a variety of experience working with the public, handling money and seeing different trends. I have gained good customer knowledge and developed my ability to perceive a customer's needs, which will aid me in custom designs, and would help me to know what they were looking for in competitions and create a design based on that.
Going to university will be a chance to find new influences and to socialise with a new and diverse group of people. I find it good motivation to be around people who think similarly to me, enabling us to learn from each other."

New shoessss :D! Yep that is pretty much the high light of my day! my new shoes! There's a picture of me in them and my leggings and my shirt that I wear to bed, I do apologise for how rough I look! I've been at work all day and feel like I should be sleeping for the next 4 years! Sadly not. My skin is also trying to get dry, but I won't let it so I'm stuck in that awful stage where it's not quite dry but not right either, and it's quite sore.
My new shoes and my night shirt, I do look awful but never mind, least now you can see my beautiful shoes!
I've also bitten down some of my nails too! which is annoying, now I remember why I like my nails long! But!
I've my night course tomorrow night so I'm a happy girly! I also need to send my dress from Asos back, so I get £10 back which is good I guess, since I'm broke from the shoes! I've also my theory test soon and need to revise which is a pain. I've also got my re-sits soon and I can't remember anything from last year, so I'm a little bit screwed! So I'm gonna have to find someone to revise with and try my best this time, since it's cost me a fortune to re-sit!
I took this one while trying my shoes on, it doesn't look as awful as what I thought it did (:
Which is ridiculous, but I do want to get into Uni so I suppose I'd better do it. On the subject of Uni's, I managed to book an open day at west minster as well, so that's great! I will now be attending 1! open day! I don't see the point in attending the others, mainly cause I can't get the time off to visit.... but never mind.

xoxo

And I'm back...

So I can't exactly remember when I updated this because it's me, and also cause I've been quite tired and a little ill, which I can't really afford to be. So I've got pictures of my art book to show you and I've what I wore today, though it's not very inventive cause I woke up late. Though I think I could currently sleep for days, but alas I've work tomorrow 9-6 and Sunday 10:30-4:30, which is a shame cause I do miss a good lie in.
But on the upside I've booked my driving theory for the 20th October, so I'm quite nervous about that and need to do some revision, as well as revision for everything else which is annoying. But least then that's out the way, and I'd better pass cause it cost me a bloody fortune.
But I'm also making a hat for my art class, but there'll be pictures of that up later cause it's really not finish yet... not really started either, but still! Positive is the key!
I've also had my night course on Monday which went amazingly! I absolutely love it, and definitely want to do it when I go to uni, I just need to improve my drawing skills which is a pain! But least now I know what I need to improve at and can just keep going and trying, I think I'll just print some pictures off and stick them in my book and keep trying from there. After all, practice does make perfect!  But anyway here's what I wore today, and also the pictures from my art book.

I also seriously need a day off! I'm so tired! I spent Monday working, which is a pain. I seriously need sleep which is a shame that I can't. I'm also meant to be booking my gym induction for Tuesday afternoon, and I'm meant to go swimming next week, but I might skip the gym induction since it's not booked and just go swimming, and wait for the induction till I get paid, since I'll hopefully get paid lots cause of being paid 2 months wages from Debenhams and 1 from JJB, which is good cause I've seen some expensive shoes that I LOVE! and have now decided I NEED! & I was gonna show you a picture of the shoes but of course I can't find it.

Eurghhhhh

I've eaten FAR too much pizza, and that will teach me to listen to my mother, I'm refusing to have dinner, I ate the pizza 2 hours ago and feel so sick, I rather wish to be sick. But never mind it is my own fault.
I also had PSE today, and while writing my personal statement for UCAS, I though I would check and see how many points Kingston wanted, they wanted me to of done Art & Design instead of Fine art which I've done, so I though I'd better ring the admissions office and ask... Historically they've never taken anyone onto a Design course who did fine art, and plainly put, I stand no chance of getting in... and thus that dream fell apart. But I've found some others but I'm still looking for a london based one to be honest even if it would be expensive. University is a bother so far, even if I am excited to go... still a bother for now.
On the other upside I remembered to take pictures today of what I wore! Even though it wasn't anything special, I really should of tried harder.
But here is where they are from etc. Even though it's all last years.
White long sleeved top - Primark
Leggings - M&S (they're thicker and warmer than Primarks whose have an itchy label)
Green Jumper - River Island (last years but very warm)
And my silver ring is from Accessorize and I currently LOVE it! I'm definitely getting into the whole ring things which is quiet nice!
oh and I know the pictures are quite boring, these were back up ones I intended to take some as I walked to town cause they'd be more interested, but not even for you was I walking to town in the torrential rain, so I'm afraid you're stuck with my back up photo's, so apologies for the bad hair and weirddd smile lol.
